With responsibility to deliver a £50million+ portfolio of projects on government properties across the globe, we deliver a huge range of critical construction projects for our customers – everything from small refurbishments to new embassy builds, from building secure bunkers to carrying out flood or earthquake repairs, and all with security at their heart.
Join us, and you’ll get to oversee every aspect of these unique projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to budget, and that they achieve the high levels of quality and security demanded by our Government customers.
It All Matters
Take charge of complex projects around the world. You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a diverse range of secure construction projects which could be worth up to £20m. As well as planning and defining the work schedule for each project and making sure all the right contracts and resources are in place, you will be expected to manage your project’s budgets, identify, manage and mitigate potential risks, effectively manage project change and find solutions to any issues that may arise. In particular, you will need to solve the many logistical challenges that come with deploying people and resources all over the globe.
Throughout your work, whether you’re negotiating and administering agreements with contractors, contributing to front-end design, meeting with stakeholders and chairing meetings on site or helping deliver the final build, you will always be focused on increasing value for money and ensuring the quality of the products and services we deliver to our customers. You will also be called upon to pass on your expertise by coaching and mentoring other Project Managers within the organisation.
Use your expertise at a whole new level
We’re looking for experienced and qualified senior project managers with a track record of working on large, complex estates and construction projects. A PRINCE2 Practitioner (or with APM PMQ qualifications), you’ll have a working knowledge of CDM 2015 and project Health and Safety, as well as proficiency in NEC contract management. Your problem solving abilities will be key, but you’ll also bring experience of procurement, risk management, financial management and managing change within projects. Given the critical nature of the projects you’ll be working on, it is important that you know how to manage multiple stakeholders and can communicate effectively not only with customers, but with everyone involved in making it happen.
It’s also important that you are someone who can always deliver, even when you’re having to work on several projects at once, and no matter how challenging or fast-paced the environment gets.
And take your career somewhere completely new
At FCDO Services, we keep information, assets and people safe all around the world. Our customers, who include the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office as well as other UK Government departments, look to us to respond with speed, agility and innovation to their ever-changing security and accommodation challenges. This gives every job here added significance. It also offers an unusual level of variety and scope, not only in terms of the projects you’ll get to manage, but also the customers you’ll get to work with and the buildings you’ll get to work on. From fine residences to embassies, from secure compounds to office blocks, you’ll be making a vital impact in unique locations all over the world.
Based in the UK, you could work from our offices in Whitehall, London, or at our site in Hanslope Park, near Milton Keynes, although whichever you’re based at, you’ll need to be prepared to travel between sites as the need arises. Depending on the projects you’re managing, you’ll also get the opportunity to travel overseas, which could take you anywhere in the world.
In addition to your salary, Civil Service pension and competitive benefits, you’ll also receive a location allowance depending on where you’re based: Hanslope Park based posts attract an allowance of £1,750 per annum. London based posts attract an allowance of £5,000 per annum.
Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. So, if you’re successful in your application, you’ll need to go through our Developed Vetting (DV) process.
It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world. The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
