About FCDO Services

At FCDO Services we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and much more. Our work is varied and vital, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on.

Behind every modern embassy or overseas project we support, there’s a dedicated Procurement team here in the UK making it all happen. They strive to provide value for money supply chains in a compliant manner to support the organisation, FCDO and our wider market customers, shaping strategies for sustainable and ethical sourcing.

Responsibilities

Your task will be to focus on ensuring our policies and processes align with the latest legal and regulatory requirements. Working across the team and our wider organisation as you share your knowledge and expertise, you’ll have the opportunity to mould the role as you come up with innovative new ideas that improve the way we operate. This is an extremely varied role – you’ll focus on a number of ad hoc projects involving areas such as commercial and ISO standards, security and supply changes, sustainability and modern slavery, working and cooperating with colleagues and networking with other government departments. We’ll also expect you to provide expert advice and support to stakeholders, ensure there is commercial knowledge across the business, and develop performance measurement frameworks to evaluate the effectiveness of our procurement and contract management. Your additional tasks will include overseeing and updating the procurement area of our intranet, and providing the high quality education and information necessary to ensure internal customers are aware of the latest policies.

Qualifications

  • MCIPS accreditation or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive procurement policy experience involving senior stakeholder engagement and ability to interpret and provide advice on relevant legislation.
  • Will to work with colleagues from a range of other government departments.
  • Some knowledge of UK public procurement procedures would be desirable.
  • Previous experience gained from operating in a commercial trading environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • Generous holiday entitlement and Civil Service Pension.
  • Training and other development opportunities to help grow your career.
  • On‑site gym, nursery, café and restaurant.
  • Interest‑free loans on season tickets and bikes.

Closing date

Apply before 11:55 pm on Tuesday 13th January 2026.

Diversity and Inclusion

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world. The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Security Clearance (SC). You can find out more about vetting at fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/.
