At FCDO Services we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on. In our world, it all matters.

Balancing quality and value is a real skill, and it’s one shared by our Commercial team, who make sure we meet the needs of government customers. They’re the specialists who shape services with expert insights, win work through expert bid management, and help us reach new customers each day. Now, you’ve got the opportunity to join them.

When you join us in this important hands-on role you’ll use all your commercial skills of working in a delivery supplier environment as you focus on sales, forecasting, reporting, commercial analytics, governance and risk management. Actively managing information you receive from Relationship and Bid Managers and other senior colleagues, you’ll leverage action to record data that enables accurate reporting. We’ll also expect you to deliver high quality forecasts and annual revenue budgets, and be dedicated to continuous improvement as you implement efficient and effective commercial controls and processes.

Focused on identifying ‘stories’ relating to perceived commercial risk and trends, generating relevant insights, analysis and compelling reports, this is a position where you’ll use all your skills in data management, systems and tools, as well as your expert knowledge of PowerBI, Excel and PowerPoint. Always ready to engage with a diverse range of audiences, you’ll also have a deep understanding of the customer and commercial lifecycle, and be committed to meeting and exceeding our customer’s expectations. With this in mind, we’ll expect you to produce detailed documentation, communicating complex information simply, succinctly and in ways that engage and influence our stakeholders.

To be a success in this important role you should be an inspirational leader and team player, and possess the motivational skills required to create a dynamic working environment that encourages people to produce their very best work while delivering excellent results and efficiencies. Highly driven, organised, detail oriented, and ready to meet tight deadlines, you should also be highly adaptable and flexible, and capable of responding quickly to changing or conflicting priorities.

When it comes to qualifications, a Degree or Level 6 qualification in Business Management, Finance, Data Analytics or a relevant subject would be desirable, as would hands-on exposure to private sector best practices, efficiency drives, lean working and continuous improvement. A practical understanding of Salesforce’s CRM Analytics and Tableau Cloud would be a plus, and you’ll be at an advantage if you have some experience of product, project and service delivery across a variety of industrial sectors, ideally including construction, estates, logistics and professional services.

But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It’s a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Security Check (SC) clearance. You can find out more about vetting at fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/.

The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace.
