As a Shift Plant Operator at FCC Environment, you will ensure the safe, compliant and efficient operation of all on-site production activities. Working under the direction of the Shift Team Leader (STL), you will play a key role in operating an Energy from Waste high-pressure boiler and steam turbine generator, supporting maximum plant reliability, availability and performance. This vacancy is for a full-time position, working a shift pattern of 4 on, 4 off.

What will you be doing?
- Safely operating the plant during steady state, start-up, shutdown and emergency situations as directed by the STL
- Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Permit and reporting issues to the STL
- Working within FCC’s Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental systems
- Acting as an Authorised Person under safety rules to apply isolations, locks and safety tags
- Taking part in HSE initiatives, forums and procedure reviews
- Conducting routine plant walks, inspections, adjustments and data collection
- Following Method Statements to return the plant safely to service after maintenance or outages
- Assisting with breakdown response and maintenance tasks
- Supporting training, development and procedure reviews
- Carrying out basic steam cycle chemistry analysis and corrective actions
- Responding to site emergencies in line with defined responsibilities
- Completing shift logging and defect reporting
- Operating mobile plant and waste grab crane (training provided)
- Supporting other UK business sites as required
What are we looking for?
- ONC/City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in a craft skill or relevant process/thermal operations (or relevant experience)
- A minimum of three years’ experience in power generation, EfW or heavy process industries
- Strong understanding of HSE requirements (IOSH Managing Safely desirable)
- Good communication and computer skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions in dynamic situations
- Self-motivated, organised, detail-oriented and able to contribute to a strong team culture
- Flexible, affable and committed to high performance standards
