Hours: You will work an average of 45 hours per week, following a shift pattern. Shifts will be scheduled between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and between 7am and 12pm on Saturdays. Your exact rota will be confirmed locally.

Location: Haverhill Transfer Station, CB9 8QP

As a Transfer Station Supervisor at FCC Environment, you will supervise the day-to-day operations of the transfer station, ensuring health and safety, environmental compliance, and efficient site performance. You will work closely with the Site Manager to deliver customer expectations and operate the site in line with budget and company policies. This vacancy is for a full-time position.

What will you be doing?

  • Implement SHEQ policies and safe systems of work, conduct risk assessments and environmental aspects & impacts analyses
  • Provide clear work instructions, investigate incidents and near misses, and ensure statutory notices and permits are adhered to
  • Manage plant, people, and resources to optimise safe and productive operations, and maintain housekeeping standards
  • Operate and oversee weighbridge systems in line with Duty of Care and permit requirements, keeping accurate records
  • Operate mobile plant, i.e., wheeled loading shovel and wheeled 360 excavator
  • Train, mentor, and roster operatives; arrange cover for absences and support performance management
  • Direct incoming vehicles, validate loads, manage contamination, and coordinate third-party contractors
  • Deputise for the Site Manager when required and carry out any reasonable duties requested by management

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in waste, logistics, transport and/or maintenance operations in a team leader or supervisor role
  • Experience operating heavy plant and working in a safety-critical environment
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong communication and numeracy skills at all levels
  • Familiarity with weighbridge operations and systems
  • Ability to plan within budgets and maintain accurate paperwork and records
  • Computer literate
  • Positive attitude, commitment to improving health & safety and compliance, and excellent timekeeping
