Shift Plant Operator
Salary: £31,235 – £39,044 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 4 on 4 off shift pattern
Location: Dudley EFW, DY2 8YT
As a Shift Plant Operator at FCC Environment, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facility, including the high-pressure boiler and steam turbine generator, along with all associated auxiliary plant. Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will help maximise plant reliability and performance while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, five days a week.

What will you be doing?
– Operate plant equipment safely and efficiently during normal and emergency situations
– Carry out first-line fault diagnosis and assist with maintenance activities
– Undertake routine plant inspections and record data
– Monitor and maintain compliance with the Environmental Permit
– Apply isolations and safety procedures as an Authorised Person
– Write and review site Method Statements and Risk Assessments
– Analyse steam cycle chemistry and adjust dosing systems accordingly
– Support site emergency response and HSE initiatives
– Operate mobile plant and waste grab crane (training provided)
What are we looking for?
– ONC/City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in a relevant craft or process/thermal production operation
– At least 3 years of operational or maintenance experience in power generation, Energy-from-Waste, or heavy industrial process environments
– Sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards (IOSH Managing Safely desirable)
– Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
– Ability to work unsupervised and take initiative
– Willingness to work shifts, be on-call, and adapt to business needs
– IT literacy and familiarity with plant control systems
