As a Senior Bid Manager at FCC Environment, you will lead our bid activities across a wide range of strategic projects and programmes. You will play a key role in developing and delivering tender submissions, managing bidding teams, and liaising closely with cross-functional departments to shape the future of waste management in the UK. This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days a week.

What will you be doing?
- Leading bid strategies and overseeing the coordination and production of compelling, commercially viable and legally sound tender submissions in line with procurement regulations.
- Managing cross-functional teams, including contributors from Operations, Legal, SHEQ, Finance, and Technical departments, to gather the right information and align on project objectives.
- Developing bespoke service delivery solutions tailored to each client's requirements and presenting well-justified project proposals to senior leadership for approval.
- Driving continuous improvement in how we develop and present bids, identifying ways to improve quality, consistency, and competitiveness.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with local authorities, commercial clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure customer needs and expectations are fully understood and incorporated into bids.
- Monitoring and reporting on bid progress, timelines, and resource allocation, keeping the Head of Development informed through regular performance updates and monthly reports.
- Supporting contract negotiations, contributing to the structuring of contract documentation and ensuring all legal and operational risks are managed appropriately.
- Mentoring and developing junior bid managers, sharing best practices and helping to build a high-performing, motivated team.
- Promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility by ensuring all bid-related activities align with SHEQ policies and standards.
What are we looking for?
- A proven track record in project and bid management, ideally within the waste management sector
- At least 5 years experience in professional, structured tendering and development environments
- Strong understanding of procurement legislation and routes to market
- Experience preparing technical, financial, and legal bid documentation to a high standard
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead, inspire, and work collaboratively across departments
- Strong commercial awareness and a resilient, results-driven mindset
