Operations Manager
Salary – £56,080 – £70,100
Hours – Full-time
Location – Gloucester EFW, GL10 3ET
As an Operations Manager at FCC Environment, you will lead the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our Gloucestershire Energy from Waste facility. You will be responsible for site health and safety, environmental compliance, delivering on customer expectations, and meeting operational and budgetary targets. You will also manage, mentor, and develop the Operations Team, playing a key leadership role in shaping the site’s mid- to long-term strategy.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?
• Leading health, safety, and environmental compliance on-site, including risk assessments and accident reporting
• Managing the site’s Safe System of Work and adhering to the FCC Safety Rules
• Driving operational excellence, process optimisation, and plant performance
• Supervising and developing the Operations Team to ensure strong performance and safety culture
• Ensuring compliance with environmental permits and statutory regulations
• Collaborating closely with Maintenance and other departments to deliver high plant availability and reliability
• Managing operations during outages and emergencies
• Delivering departmental budgets and supporting site-wide strategic goals
• Deputising for the General Manager when required
What are we looking for?
• Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant engineering degree
• NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
• Minimum five years of supervisory experience in operations and engineering, ideally in steam-powered electricity generation or Energy from Waste
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
• Excellent leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills
• Experience managing change and driving performance improvement
• Computer literate and confident in data analysis and reporting
• Able to manage third parties and influence stakeholders effectively
