As a Deputy Operations Manager at FCC Environment, you will play a key role in supporting the senior management team by providing front-line operational leadership at the Allington Energy from Waste facility. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient day-to-day operation of the site and will step in for the Operations Manager in their absence. This role is central to ensuring high operational standards while supporting a 24/7 operational environment. This vacancy is for a full-time position, working across a flexible operational rota to support site requirements.

What will you be doing?
- Supporting the Operations Manager in the safe, compliant and efficient running of the Allington EfW facility
- Acting as Operations Manager in their absence
- Providing Senior Authorised Person (SAP 2) duties up to 33kV and assistance for LV apparatus and mechanical plant
- Managing and leading the Day Operations department
- Ensuring compliance with site safety rules, FCC policies, procedures and Environmental Permit conditions
- Leading investigations into significant accidents, incidents and near misses
- Providing leadership during outages and supporting HVSP and SAP activities
- Promoting and enforcing safe systems of work across the site
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives across safety, training, housekeeping and operational performance
- Managing contractors to ensure compliance with site safety systems
- Carrying out risk assessments, audits and Duty of Care checks
- Reducing environmental impact while maintaining high operational efficiency
- Developing and mentoring employees, ensuring competency, training and certification requirements are met
What are we looking for?
- SAP (Senior Authorised Person) experience (LV, Mechanical and HV) essential
- A minimum of an HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent operational experience
- At least five years supervisory experience within a steam-powered power plant operations environment
- Strong knowledge of Health Safety and environmental legislation
- Experience working with permit-to-work systems and operational procedures
- Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills
- Ability to influence, motivate and develop teams
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
- Good commercial awareness and IT skills (Microsoft Office and CMMS/ERP systems)
- A flexible approach to working within a 24/7 operational environment
