Hours: 34.50 hours per week, 09:00 to 17:00

Location: Thorn Turn HWRC

As a Site Team Leader at FCC Environment, you will lead the site team in the safe and effective operation of a Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC). You will play a key role in ensuring waste is correctly segregated, recyclable materials are maximised, and excellent customer service is delivered to members of the public, all while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and compliance. This vacancy is for a full-time position, working as part of a rota that includes weekend working.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading the site team through daily operations, passing on instructions from the management team
  • Managing a busy trade waste facility
  • Ensuring all waste streams are correctly segregated and stored in line with permit requirements
  • Assisting and advising members of the public with recycling and waste disposal
  • Maintaining high standards of site cleanliness, presentation and customer service
  • Ensuring health, safety and environmental procedures are followed at all times
  • Reporting accidents, near misses and incidents via EcoOnline
  • Completing daily, weekly, monthly and annual checks within required timescales
  • Training new starters and agency staff on site duties and safe working practices
  • Monitoring PPE, tools and site stock levels and arranging reorders where required
  • Ensuring completion and accuracy of Waste Transfer Notes and Consignment Notes
  • Acting as First Aider, Fire Marshal and Materials Handler Operative
  • Ensuring all staff and visitors wear appropriate PPE

  • Proven experience in a similar supervisory or team leader role
  • Knowledge of the waste industry and waste streams
  • Proven experience leading and motivating a team
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently, use initiative and remain resilient
  • Experience working on a weighbridge
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends
  • Full UK driving licence
