HGV Mechanic
Salary: Β£32,885 per annum
Hours: 45 hours per week, 07:00 β 16:00
Location: Hereford Depot, HR2 8BH
As a Mechanic at FCC Environment, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and ready to support our operations. You will be expected to carry out planned servicing, preventative maintenance, and fault rectification on a range of vehicles, including HGVs and refuse collection vehicles.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
β Carrying out mandatory planned servicing and preventative maintenance on all owned fleet vehicles
β Identifying and rectifying faults on the fleet
β Prioritising workloads and communicating effectively with operational supervisors and the Contract Manager
β Ordering the correct parts at competitive prices
β Attending roadside breakdowns, diagnosing issues, and completing repairs where possible
β Keeping your work area clean and tidy
β Working with drivers to encourage accurate defect reporting
β Collaborating effectively with third-party contractors
β Adhering to all health and safety procedures and company policies
What are we looking for?
β Experience as an HGV mechanic is desirable
β Knowledge of refuse collection vehicles is a distinct advantage
β Experience in using diagnostic equipment
β Category C driving licence preferred (can be discussed)
β Flexibility, honesty, and a willingness to learn
β Excellent timekeeping and self-motivation
β Determination to see tasks through to completion
β Knowledge of the local area would be advantageous
