Hours: Full-time

Location: Northampton (NN4 7BF) hybrid working with a minimum of two (but preferably three) days per week in the office

As a Legal Counsel (Commercial) at FCC Environment, you will provide legal support to the business across a wide range of commercial contract matters, including, in particular, supporting the development team with local authority tenders. This vacancy is for a full-time position.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting the development team with local authority tenders
  • Advising on procurement matters
  • Negotiating, drafting and reviewing a range of commercial contracts
  • Providing legal advice to all levels of the UK business
  • Undertaking (with external legal support where necessary) and assisting the Managing Legal Counsel (Commercial) with complex commercial transactions and corporate finance transactions
  • Working closely with the Managing Legal Counsel (Commercial) and wider teams
  • Ensuring compliance with SHEQ policies and contributing to a strong safety culture

What are we looking for?

  • UK-qualified solicitor
  • At least two years post-qualified experience (in-house experience advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience in commercial contracts and procurement
  • Exposure to corporate finance matters would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the waste industry or a similarly regulated environment (desirable)
  • Strong commercial awareness and pragmatic approach
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • High attention to detail
  • The ability to work collaboratively and support the wider legal team
