As a Mechanical Technician at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the performance and maintenance of all mechanical apparatus across the Gloucestershire EfW plant. This includes materials handling conveyors, boiler plant, steam turbine generator and associated ancillary equipment. Working closely with the Mechanical Engineer, you will help ensure the reliability, safety and efficiency of the plant through high standards of maintenance and continuous improvement.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, supporting plant operations on a 24/7 basis, including attending call-outs and working overtime when required.

What will you be doing?
- Maintaining all mechanical equipment in line with company and site safety policies and procedures
- Ensuring all routine and emergent maintenance tasks are completed and recorded in the plant maintenance management system
- Investigating, diagnosing and rectifying mechanical faults to minimise plant downtime
- Assisting the Mechanical Engineer with maintenance planning, statutory inspections and service contracts
- Managing selected plant improvement projects from evaluation through to implementation
- Supporting annual outages, including supervising contractors and developing work scopes
- Acting as the lead authority for selected plant systems following training and competency development
- Supporting apprentices through training and mentoring
- Promoting high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times
What are we looking for?
- Extensive mechanical maintenance experience, ideally within power generation, EfW, CCGT, oil, coal, biomass or as a time-served Armed Forces engineer
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Ability to work effectively in demanding, fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across different levels
- Highly motivated, adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical and decision‑making skills
- Computer literate, with experience of maintenance management systems (desirable)
