Fleet Inspector
Salary £37,477 – £46,847 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location Home based with national travel
As a Fleet Inspector at FCC Environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the roadworthiness and compliance of our diverse fleet of vehicles. You will undertake detailed inspections and monitor the quality of repairs and maintenance across various locations nationally, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the Groups fleet.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What Will You Be Doing?
– Conducting roadworthiness inspections on HGV and LGV vehicles across various operational sites
– Generating and reporting inspection findings to the Head of Fleet and Plant
– Monitoring vehicle maintenance records and ensuring DVSA compliance
– Advising on vehicle condition and working with operational teams on improvements
– Supporting Transport Managers and coaching on best practices such as daily checks, defect reporting, and safety protocols
– Staying up to date with regulatory changes and industry developments
– Assisting with incident investigations and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies
– Engaging with workshop managers and fleet teams to promote best practices
– Recommending improvements to vehicle operations and compliance standards
What Are We Looking For?
– City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in vehicle maintenance
– Strong knowledge of HGV repair and DVSA guidelines
– Experience within waste management or a similar operational fleet environment (preferred)
– Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive and flexible attitude
– Confidence to work independently and travel nationally
– Computer literacy, particularly in MS Word and Excel
– HGV licence and CPC qualification (desirable but not essential)
– Willingness to travel and stay overnight as required
