This is a full-time, on-site Class 2 Refuse Driver role based in Burnley. The Class 2 Refuse Driver will operate refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently on assigned routes, ensuring timely and accurate collection of waste and recycling from households and commercial customers.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing daily vehicle checks, reporting defects, and ensuring compliance with all relevant transport and safety regulations.
- Working closely with loaders and other team members, maintaining clear communication, and engaging with customers and the public in a professional and respectful manner.
- Completing route documentation, following site procedures at disposal and recycling facilities, and supporting FCC Environment’s commitment to high standards of service and environmental performance.
Qualifications:
- Strong truck driving skills with proven experience operating refuse or similar heavy goods vehicles.
- Valid Class 2 (or equivalent) commercial driving license; a clean driving record and CPC qualification are highly desirable.
- Effective communication and customer service skills to interact respectfully with colleagues, customers, and the public.
- Ability to work safely in all weather conditions, follow health and safety procedures, and perform basic vehicle inspections.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team with a focus on service quality and environmental responsibility.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for completing route sheets and paperwork; prior experience in waste, logistics, or related sectors is an advantage.
