The predicted salary is between 12 - 13 £ per hour.
We are looking for a practical, hands-on waste operative to work outdoors full-time for a 10-week rolling rota. You will help the public recycle correctly, keep the site safe, clean and well-organised, and handle waste in line with permits and health & safety requirements.

What will you be doing?
- Assisting members of the public in separating their waste correctly
- Ensuring waste is segregated into the correct streams and containers
- Keeping the site clean, tidy and safe at all times
- Greeting and helping visitors use the site effectively
- Storing waste safely in line with permit requirements
- Identifying and dealing with contaminated recycling where required
- Completing waste tickets, Waste Transfer Notes and Consignment Notes accurately
- Reporting health & safety incidents and near misses
- Using PPE correctly and ensuring visitors are doing the same
- Undertaking required training, including First Aider, Incident Controller and Materials Handler training
- Working in line with FCC policies, risk assessments and safe working practices
What are we looking for?
- Experience in a similar role or within the waste industry
- Knowledge of waste management and waste streams
- A valid UK driving licence
- A strong awareness of health and safety
- A reliable and hardworking approach
- Ability to work as part of a team or on your own initiative
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Willingness to work outdoors and in all weather conditions
- Flexibility to work weekends as required
