As a Shift Manager at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of all operational staff, contractors and visitors on site. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will supervise day-to-day operational activities, ensuring the facility runs safely, efficiently and in line with company policies and procedures, while driving operational improvements.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing the day-to-day operations team, including technicians, operators and agency staff
  • Supervising operational activities to ensure safe, efficient and compliant running of the facility
  • Leading on health, safety and environmental performance, including investigations and reporting
  • Ensuring all staff and contractors follow site safety rules and procedures
  • Developing and maintaining operational procedures and risk assessments
  • Coordinating maintenance activities and safe systems of work
  • Supporting operational improvements and plant performance
  • Managing and developing your team, including training, appraisals and competency
  • Supporting recruitment and workforce planning activities
  • Leading incident response during emergency situations
  • Working collaboratively with maintenance, cleaning and operational teams

What are we looking for?

  • Experience supervising or managing teams in an operational or industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Technical background in plant operations, maintenance or similar
  • Experience working with complex process systems (e.g. power generation or similar environments)
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
  • Experience managing performance, conflict and employee engagement
  • Knowledge of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ideally working towards or holding relevant qualifications (e.g. HNC, NEBOSH, IOSH)
