As a Deputy Operations Manager at FCC Environment, you will support the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Energy from Waste facility. You will be expected to lead the Day Operations Team, drive operational performance improvements and assist in the overall management of the site. The Deputy Operations Manager will also act as Operations Manager in their absence.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing the Day Operations Team on a daily basis
  • Supporting the safe and compliant operation of the facility
  • Driving continuous improvement in operational performance
  • Supporting operational planning, coordination and supervision activities
  • Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Monitoring compliance with the FCC Energy Division Safety Rules
  • Investigating incidents and supporting improvements to prevent recurrence
  • Working closely with maintenance teams to maximise plant availability
  • Managing contractors and external technical support where required
  • Supporting operational budgeting and long-term planning
  • Acting as Operations Manager in their absence

What are we looking for?

  • Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Engineering (ONC/NVQ/C&G or equivalent)
  • Experience within a power plant, energy from waste or heavy industrial operations
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental standards
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (desirable)
  • Experience as a Senior Authorised Person/Permit Issuer (desirable)
  • Experience within thermal plant operations and knowledge of permits and safety systems (desirable)
