Hours: 37.5 hours per week.

Location: Ipswich Office, IP3 9FF.

This vacancy is for a full‑time position, working five days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day‑to‑day operation of recycling centre sites in line with the Contract and FCC objectives
  • Becoming the day‑to‑day operational contact for Suffolk County Council’s officers
  • Leading and supporting operational teams, including Area Supervisors
  • Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies
  • Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safe systems of work are in place
  • Monitoring site performance to ensure services are delivered safely, professionally and efficiently
  • Ensuring environmental permits, planning permissions and contractual requirements are met
  • Investigating incidents and supporting accident/near‑miss reporting and corrective actions
  • Driving continuous improvement and innovation across service delivery
  • Managing budgets and supporting cost control for the contract

Qualifications

  • Experience in an operations management role, ideally within waste, recycling or a similar environment
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and environmental compliance requirements
  • Experience of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Ability to manage performance and deliver against operational targets
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work within budgets and manage resources effectively
  • Commitment to high standards of service delivery and continuous improvement
