As a Plant Operative at FCC Environment, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of mobile plant machinery to ensure waste is accepted, processed, and loaded safely and efficiently. You will be expected to carry out daily inspections, assist with site housekeeping, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working six days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Operating mobile plant machinery, including wheeled loading shovels and excavators, safely and effectively.
  • Conducting daily inspections and light maintenance of plant machinery, such as greasing and clearing debris.
  • Processing waste materials, including shredding, to ensure smooth operation of the site.
  • Loading vehicles for the onward transportation of waste.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment through regular housekeeping duties.
  • Liaising with site supervisors and weighbridge staff to coordinate waste transfer.
  • Following the site’s Traffic Management Plan (TMP) and Fire Prevention Plan (FPP).
  • Providing excellent customer service to hauliers and site visitors.
  • Complying with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating mobile plant machinery, such as wheeled loading shovels and wheeled excavators (essential).
  • Previous experience with shredders and within the waste industry (desirable).
  • A responsible, hardworking individual who can use their initiative.
  • Calm under pressure and able to respond to operational issues effectively.
  • Good timekeeping and a strong team player.
  • Comfortable enforcing site safety rules and procedures.
