FC Engineering Recruitment is working with an established engineering business in Newport who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This is an opportunity for a mechanical design engineer to work on a range of engineering projects, developing and improving mechanical products and systems from concept through to manufacture.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies and products. Key responsibilities will include:
- Producing detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
- Developing mechanical designs from initial concept through to manufacture
- Designing components, assemblies and mechanisms
- Producing manufacturing drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials
- Working closely with manufacturing and production teams
- Supporting prototype development, testing and design improvements
- Reviewing and modifying existing designs where required
- Ensuring designs meet relevant engineering and quality requirements
- Working with suppliers and other departments to resolve technical issues
- Contributing to continuous improvement and new product development
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar
- A relevant mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent experience
- Strong experience using 3D CAD
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles
- Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage your own workload and work to project deadlines
- Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment would be advantageous.
