We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Steelwork Site Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of structural steelwork projects within the south coast, home counties and into London.

Projects vary in value typically from £100,000 to over £3 million within healthcare, education, industrial and commercial builds.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full project life cycle of steelwork construction projects, from tender through to completion and handover.
  • Liaise with clients, main contractors, engineers, architects, and internal teams to ensure alignment on project objectives.
  • Prepare project programmes, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK building regulations, health & safety standards and company procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage site teams, including subcontractors and site supervisors.
  • Monitor project budgets, track progress, and report on key milestones and financial performance.
  • Attend site meetings, resolve technical and logistical issues, and ensure timely communication with all stakeholders.
  • Oversee quality control, ensuring steel fabrication and erection meet specifications and standards.
  • Lead the handover process and ensure proper documentation and close-out procedures are completed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as either a Site Manager or Foreperson within steelwork or structural steel construction projects in the UK.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection processes.
  • Familiarity with UK construction regulations and health & safety legislation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent project planning and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • CSCS card (Manager level), SMSTS, and a full UK driving licence.
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred but not essential).
