One of our long standing window and doors contractor clients based in Wiltshire are seeking a full time Operations/Manufacturing Manager to lead and oversee the daily production of our PVC and aluminium windows and doors manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, optimising processes, managing production teams, and ensuring that health and safety regulations are met.
Responsibilities
Production Management
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are met.
- Develop and implement production schedules, staffing plans, and resource allocation to optimise output.
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely availability of raw materials and delivery of finished goods.
Process Optimisation
- Streamline production processes to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and lower costs.
- Implement lean manufacturing.
- Utilise data to track performance and drive improvements in cycle times, productivity, and quality.
Quality Control
- Ensure all products meet company and customer specifications and quality standards.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to resolve any non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership
- Manage, train, and mentor a team of supervisors, Team Leaders and Operators.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and implement staff development plans.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols and investigate incidents or accidents when they occur.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare regular reports on production output, efficiency, downtime, and other key performance indicators.
- Communicate effectively with other departments such as Human Resources, Sales, Despatch, Quality, Health & Safety and Finance to align production goals with business objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably in the PVC, Aluminium or construction materials industry.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes related to PVC extrusion, welding, assembly, and glazing.
- Proven experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and production planning tools.
