Client side HSE Advisor required for a contract role:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting business unit directors in delivering business objectives.
- Monitoring and working with the principal contractor appointed to complete the project.
- Attending regular meetings with the principal contractor.
- Providing support and assistance to the principal contractor and contractors on site.
- Positively engaging with our client and developing, growing and maintaining our relationship.
- Delivering a high-quality service which ensures that services meet our client’s requirement.
- Managing the client’s health safety obligations on the project to deliver a high-quality service.
- Advising and assisting the client with their duties under the CDM regulations and other construction related health and safety standards, regulations and legislations.
- Assisting with the coordination of health and safety aspects of design work.
- Cooperating with others involved with the project.
- Facilitating good communication between the client, designers and contractors.
- Liaising with the principal contractor regarding ongoing design work.
- Producing and presenting regular reports to our main client – this will involve prompt flash reports of major issues as well as comprehensive weekly and monthly reports detailing all aspects of health and safety management on site.
The role will be based on a construction project, and the successful candidate must be someone who can work independently. The role will require both high-level monitoring of a principal contractor and the candidate must be able to act on behalf of the client whilst maintaining a collaborative and positive relationship with the contractor.
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills:
- Sound construction related health and safety management experience post Tech IOSH qualification.
- Experience of delivering services on a live construction site.
- Cohesive knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience of construction related health and safety management.
- Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation relating to construction.
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
- Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
- Good problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills.
- Ability to prepare first class bids for services.
- Competent ICT skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH Construction and General Certificates/Tech IOSH minimum (will be considered with right amount of experience and other qualifications).
- NEBOSH Diploma/CMIOSH preferred.
