Your purpose: As a member of the team and a specialist in technology system administration, you will have overall responsibility for the operation, configuration, and support of the tools owned by the engineering competency. You will be accountable for ensuring their availability, consistent implementation of standards, and strong user enablement so that they deliver maximum value. You will be accountable for the capabilities and engagement that support the engineering competency to:

  • Ensure tools are available to support the needs of engineering delivery.
  • Provide robust data to enable effective and objective insight into engineering activities.
  • Configure tools to the expected standards of the supporting capability owners.
  • Ensure visibility and transparency of the cost of tools used and supported.

This role drives clear visibility, innovation, availability, and education of engineering tools with capability managers and stakeholders across the business and external partners.

Your role:

  • Support: Capture, manage, and resolve user issues relating to the tools. Identify trends in issues and problems requiring attention. Administer tools from both a functional and user-access perspective. Co-ordinate with wider organisational teams when needed to resolve issues.
  • Maintenance: Ensure and report on tool status and availability. Maintain tools at the latest version or plan upgrades appropriately. Monitor user and system trends, highlighting concerns or risks. Perform housekeeping of tool data sets and user access. Monitor licence levels and suggest optimisation opportunities.
  • Driving Improvement: Maintain a product backlog for the ecosystem of tools. Support investigation of new tools or integration opportunities. Track and report on identified and agreed improvements. Identify opportunities for improvements or adaptations to benefit users and their outcomes. Work with stakeholders to capture new requirements or enhancements.
  • Managerial: Manage direct reports, including development and performance. Manage third-party suppliers for both resources and tools consumed by the capability. Support ongoing team development and administration. Maintain and track an ongoing budget and forecast.
