Main Purpose of the Role
As a Data Business Analyst, you will work closely with our Data Product Managers to help define and prioritise the Product Backlog. You will be involved in the planning and assignment of tasks while aligning to the timely delivery of agreed quality standards. You will be responsible for building project requirements, creating development-ready user stories supported by appropriate data analysis, and working closely with the wider delivery team to ensure effective implementation of data solutions. You will also be involved with system functional requirements, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical solutions. This includes translating business processes into functional specifications and collaborating with developers to ensure accurate implementation. Working as part of a Business Analysis competency to evolve and improve working practices and frameworks, you will take a technical/systems focus on various high-value projects and change initiatives. You will collaborate closely with Data Modellers, Data Architects, Data Engineers, and Quality Analysts within an Agile Development Framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee the full business requirements lifecycle, including elicitation, analysis, documentation, and management.
- Plan and run workshops, interviews, and prototyping sessions to elicit, clarify, and agree requirements.
- Identify and analyse systems and data used in the business to support requirements gathering.
- Undertake requirements engineering, ensuring specificity about the actions required and the resulting business benefit.
- Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, concise, unambiguous, and verifiable.
- Work with the Product Manager to define and prioritise product backlogs, ensuring alignment to stakeholder requirements and timelines.
- Provide suitable information to developers to build/configure products.
- Manage scope changes and requirements during implementation.
- Work closely with technical teams to ensure clear and aligned understanding of requirements.
- Ensure all appropriate documentation is completed in line with agreed ways of working.
Skills, Ability or Experience
Essential Experience
- Data background with experience across data disciplines such as Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Migration, Data Quality Management, and Information Governance.
- Experience with data ingestion processes and the ability to read and understand database schemas, including relationships between objects and key terminology.
- Knowledge of Data Architecture methods and tools, with an understanding of data modelling techniques (conceptual, logical, physical) and working knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts (reporting, querying software, data mining, OLAP, relational databases, cloud architecture).
- Experienced in requirements elicitation from various stakeholder groups, including 1-1s and workshops.
- Experience applying Use Cases, Process Maps, Data Flows, and Diagrams.

- Ability to distil complex ideas into concise descriptions easily understood by technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication skills, able to confidently engage and inspire stakeholders at all levels, generating commitment and engagement.

Desirable Skills
- Experience with data visualisation techniques and principles.

- Experience working with system workflows, APIs, and functional specifications.
- Experience working with marketing technology platforms, ideally Adobe Campaign or similar (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Oracle Eloqua).
