The SAP Technical Delivery Consultant is responsible for delivering high-quality, cost-effective SAP changes aligned to Working Group roadmaps, while ensuring the effective run and maintenance of services. The role drives DevOps ways of working, maximises team throughput, and ensures continuous improvement across delivery, tooling, and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery & Execution
    • Manage the delivery of tactical SAP changes within the backlog, ensuring alignment to agreed priorities.
    • Translate user stories into detailed delivery plans through to early life support.
    • Facilitate estimation, planning, and scheduling of work to ensure predictable delivery.
    • Ensure system changes are delivered as planned and committed.
    • Remove blockers and manage dependencies to support timely delivery.
    • Support PI planning cycles, ensuring plans are well-defined and capacity is optimised.
  • DevOps & Agile Leadership
    • Promote and embed DevOps principles: Collaboration and shared ownership, Customer-centric decision making, Automation and efficiency, Continuous learning from failure, Performance-focused, generative culture, Metrics-driven improvement.
    • Implement and continuously improve Agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
    • Facilitate Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, reviews).
    • Drive cross-functional collaboration and transparency across all work.
  • Team Performance & Optimisation
    • Maximise resource utilisation to increase throughput and business value.
    • Track and improve key delivery metrics (e.g. lead time, cycle time, sprint velocity, technical debt, unplanned work).
    • Conduct Lean analysis (e.g. Value Stream Mapping) to remove inefficiencies and improve flow.
    • Foster accountability and high performance within the team.
    • Build a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Collaborate with Product Leads and stakeholders to align PI objectives with business goals.
    • Build strong relationships across business, IT, suppliers, and partners.
    • Communicate delivery performance and risks to senior stakeholders.
    • Ensure user needs are understood and met across all stages of delivery.
  • Governance & Strategy
    • Ensure all DevOps activities align with organisational strategy and policies.
    • Provide specialist advice on information management and collaborative working.
    • Maintain compliance with governance, quality, and security standards.
    • Influence decisions relating to scope, priorities, and resource allocation.
  • Continuous Improvement & Capability Building
    • Identify and implement improvements in processes, tools, and ways of working.
    • Develop reusable delivery assets (e.g. dashboards, planning tools, trackers, roadmaps).
    • Leverage innovation sprints to introduce new tools or techniques.
    • Build and share knowledge across the DevOps and SAP communities.
    • Coach and mentor team members to support capability growth.

Core Duties

  • Lead delivery of SAP changes across business and internal projects.
  • Maintain visibility and control of all work in progress.
  • Manage capacity across PI cycles to prevent over/under allocation.
  • Facilitate retrospectives and ensure improvement actions are implemented.
  • Drive performance reporting to portfolio leadership.

  • Strong experience delivering SAP solutions in a DevOps or Agile environment.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams.
