About the Role

This role sits within the Digital Technology team and is responsible for the delivery, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise application solutions across UK-based business operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring applications effectively support operational and business requirements while maintaining high levels of availability, performance, security, and user satisfaction.

The position encompasses the full application lifecycle, including business analysis, solution design, configuration, development, testing, implementation, support, and ongoing maintenance.

Working closely with business stakeholders and technical teams, you will help deliver new capabilities, manage system enhancements, support integrations between applications, and ensure solutions align with industry best practices.

While the organisation primarily implements and configures commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, this role also requires the ability to develop and tailor bespoke solutions when business needs demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Systems Delivery & Support
  • Collaborate with business and functional teams to deliver technology solutions that meet organisational requirements.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure systems and enhancements are delivered effectively and on schedule.
  • Provide day-to-day application support, including incident resolution, service requests, system enhancements, and configuration changes.
  • Support the deployment of new business applications and system implementations.
  • Maintain the availability, reliability, and performance of business-critical applications.
  • Deliver support within agreed service levels, resolving incidents and implementing preventative maintenance activities.
  • Participate in out-of-hours support activities when required to support key business processes.
  • Analysis, Development & Integration
  • Gather, analyse, and document business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform systems analysis, application development, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Design and analyse data structures and application integrations.
  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and support application interfaces and integrations.
  • Investigate and resolve application issues, identifying opportunities for process and system improvement.
  • Support the integration of applications to ensure effective data exchange across the technology landscape.
  • Project Delivery & Governance
  • Contribute to system implementation projects, including user training, support, and problem resolution.
  • Create and maintain technical and user documentation.
  • Monitor and manage work requests through Helpdesk and Change Control processes.
  • Maintain configuration and change management records, ensuring application architecture and system documentation remain current.
  • Work collaboratively with third-party suppliers and software vendors to deliver requirements and resolve issues.
  • Ensure the integrity, security, and compliance of systems and information assets.
  • Travel occasionally to other business locations and partner organisations as required.
  • Required Skills & Experience
  • Degree-qualified or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong SAP R/3 and ABAP development experience.
  • Experience supporting and delivering business-critical enterprise applications within a large organisation.
  • Working knowledge of formal systems development and delivery methodologies.
  • Broad understanding of IT technologies, applications, and business systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience with SAP Business Process Automation by Redwood (formerly CPS Job Scheduler).
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant programming languages, enterprise applications, databases, and integration technologies.
