Our client, a distinguished player in the Defence & Security sector, is calling for a highly skilled Data Architect - Fabric to join their ranks on a permanent basis. The position is based at their cutting-edge facility in Farnborough, where innovation meets strategy in groundbreaking technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Data Fabric architecture end-to-end: including integration, processing, storage, metadata/lineage, governance and consumption patterns
  • Establishing and maintaining the architecture roadmap, encompassing technology evolution, capability increments and deployment waves across environments
  • Directing architecture for data integration and interoperability, implementing strategies for connectors, data sharing patterns and cross-domain data exchange approaches
  • Translating high-level architectural intent into reference architectures, patterns, and guardrails to ensure repeatable delivery by the engineering team
  • Running architecture governance and assurance, leading comprehensive data modelling across conceptual, logical, and physical levels
  • Providing hands-on leadership to a team of Data Fabric Engineers and Data Analysts, ensuring the platform's security, scalability, resilience, and operability as it evolves
  • Staying tuned to engineering practices to ensure designs are buildable, testable, and supportable
  • Communicating complex architectural concepts to senior stakeholders proficiently

Job Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in data architecture and/or data platform engineering with significant ownership of architecture on complex programmes
  • Demonstrable track record of evolving an established architecture through strategic roadmaps, standards, patterns, and governance
  • Proficient knowledge of on-premises, cloud, and hybrid platforms with a deep understanding of data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, stewardship, and lifecycle management
  • Experience designing and governing architectures for constrained or mission-critical environments, including edge deployments and contested connectivity patterns
  • Experience leading engineering teams, providing clear technical direction and mentoring in multidisciplinary environments
  • Ability to explain intricate architectural concepts to senior stakeholders with excellent written and verbal communication skills
