Role Description
This is a volunteering role for a Debate & Public Speaking Coach. As a coach, you will play a key role in supporting individuals to develop confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking skills through structured debates. You will guide participants, design engaging sessions, and contribute to a positive learning environment that encourages collaboration and growth. Your work will help participants succeed in debate competitions, professional settings, and everyday communication.
Responsibilities
- Develop debate & public speaking strategies and coach individuals or groups in debating skills
- Organise and conduct coaching sessions, workshops, and practice exercises
- Provide constructive feedback to help participants improve their public speaking and critical thinking
- Plan and execute debate tournaments or events
- Collaborate with other coaches and club members to support participant growth and success
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of debate & public speaking strategies, or relevant experience in business, communication, and leadership
- Experience in coaching, teaching, mentoring, or facilitating group discussions
- The ability to work with individuals or as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organisational skills for planning and running sessions or events
- Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to inspire confidence in others
- Comfortable using remote communication and online coaching tools
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree or coursework in business, marketing, social sciences, communications, education, or a related field is a plus
- Practical experience in debating, public speaking, leadership, or mentoring is highly valued
