An established and growing organisation is looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead and support a software engineering team. This is a practical leadership role — not a purely managerial position. You’ll be responsible for improving delivery, introducing structure, mentoring developers, and remaining technically involved where required. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, taking ownership of day-to-day coordination, planning, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate a small team of software developers
- Manage priorities, workload planning, and delivery schedules
- Improve processes, communication, and team accountability
- Run stand-ups, sprint planning, and delivery reviews where appropriate
- Mentor and support developers
- Stay hands-on with development when needed
- Oversee DevOps, deployments, and release processes
- Align development output with business priorities
- Contribute to building a scalable and positive engineering culture
Experience Required:
- Experience leading or mentoring software developers
- Strong software development background
- Proven ability to manage workflows and priorities
- Experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies
- DevOps / CI/CD and deployment experience
