Job Description
Senior Engineer
A leading house builder have a requirement for a Senior Engineer to join their Technical team to assist with the delivery of new build developments.
Working closely with the Engineering manager and Technical Director you will play a key role within the engineering function for new build developments in the region.
You will oversee the Engineering function to ensure engineering tasks are prioritised and dealt with in an efficient and timely manner to ensure that engineering advice and information is delivered to site and the wider business, on time and within budget expectations.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Delivering detailed engineering viability information to support land acquisition
- Providing detailed tender information for all civil aspects of new build developments, providing commercial acumen on new methods of construction
- Ensuring all relevant S38, 104 and 278 approvals/agreements are obtained
- Support the Design Manager in the resolution of engineering issues as part of the planning application process and the discharge of conditions.
- Manage the design of ground works and infrastructure, including roads, sewers, and utilities.
- Maintain a continuous process of evaluation of consultant's performance and design capabilities to ensure that they meet deadlines, whilst following best practice, and always with value engineering at the forefront of design.
- Be on site and lead on relevant technical meetings relating to the procurement and approval of site infrastructure.
- Establish good working relationships with Site staff and all departments to ensure schemes are constructed as intended and to offer feedback where it adds value-always seeking opportunities to improve.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with Local Authorities and other external bodies such as the EA and UU. To progress and secure relevant approvals to facilitate development.
- Progress adoption for roads and sewers on closed legacy developments to reduce the business's bond limit with the NHBC. This will involve tendering and appointing works to contractors and ensuring work is completed to the necessary adoptable standards and within budget.
Senior Engineer requirements
- Experience in a similar Engineering role in the housebuilding sector.
- Qualified to HNC/Degree level or equivalent, preferably in Civil Engineering.
- Be knowledgeable in the latest engineering regulatory requirements in housebuilding.
- Excellent attention to detail particularly when reviewing and approving technical documentation.
- A strong network of engineering related consultants, Local Authorities, and utility providers in the local area.
- To specifically oversee advice covering the following areas; ground investigations/conditions including contamination, road and sewer infrastructure design, foundation design, external works design, utility service provision and other agency issues as appropriate
