Fawkes & Reece are currently working in partnership with a major UK construction and engineering contractor to appoint an experienced Senior MEP Design Manager for a long-term, permanent opportunity based in Reading. This role offers the chance to take a leading position within a well-established regional buildings team, supporting the design and technical delivery of complex MEP packages across a diverse portfolio of building projects.
The Role
As Senior MEP Design Manager, you will take ownership of the MEP design process from tender stage through to project completion, ensuring technical compliance, buildability, and value optimisation throughout.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing tender and design information for technical compliance and identifying value engineering opportunities
- Supporting pre-construction and estimating teams with technical input, plant selection and client requirements
- Managing and coordinating external MEP design consultants across all project stages
- Overseeing BIM delivery requirements and associated cost controls
- Providing electrical technical and design support across multiple live projects when required
- Driving innovative solutions through Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles
- Attending design team and client meetings to ensure smooth coordination and programme alignment
- Supporting quality assurance processes and ensuring compliance with industry standards and legislation
About You
To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
- HNC/HND via a technical apprenticeship or a degree in Building Services Engineering
- Strong experience within the UK construction and building services sector
- Proven background delivering projects from design stage through to completion
- A solid understanding of design interfaces and on-site construction challenges
- Technical expertise in HV/LV and ELV systems
- Knowledge of British Standards, IET 17th/18th Edition, CDM Regulations and Building Regulations
- Awareness of environmental and sustainability standards such as BREEAM
