Experienced Project Director required to take the lead on a £100m new build custodial scheme near Devizes in Wiltshire, due to commence on site later this year for a 2.5 year programme of works. The project comprises 3 large new house blocks with precast concrete construction and complex MEP services throughout the development. Works take place mainly outside the wire, prior to later stages to complete the new perimeter wall and security.

You will be responsible for managing the project through the final preconstruction stages through to start on site in Q3 2025 and then construction phase through to handover in 2027/8. You will lead your project team holding ultimate responsibility for client and stakeholder liaison, design development, construction methodology and programme of works, the smooth and timely progress of construction on site, contractual and financial control of the project throughout, plus safety and quality control.

The client is the busy regional office of a national main contractor, with a turnover in excess of £150m, with secured workload in the education, commercial, leisure, MoJ and high spec residential sectors across the South. Projects range in size from £40m to £100m, secured through a mixture of national and regional frameworks, negotiated schemes with repeat clients, competitive tenders. There is a good pipeline of future work, with 70% of turnover already secured for 2026/27.

You will ideally be an experienced Project Director with a proven track record within a major contracting organisation, able to deliver large scale design & build schemes up to £100m in value. Key attributes will include excellent high level client, design team and project team management ability, technical, contractual and commercial knowledge, plus focus and drive. High standards, attention to detail and the drive will be very well rewarded with excellent salary, benefits, promotional and development prospects.

Experience of delivering public sector schemes on an NEC3 contract would be advantageous; Previous MoJ custodial experience within a prison would be highly advantageous.
