A well‐established and rapidly expanding groundworks and construction contractor based in Bedfordshire, delivering high‐quality earthworks, foundations, drainage, infrastructure and hard landscaping for commercial and residential clients across the region. The business has a strong local reputation and a growing project portfolio with long‐standing client relationships. Due to continued growth and an increasing pipeline of work, the business is now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding commercial team to play a key part in the financial and commercial success of projects from inception through to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Preparing and reviewing tender submissions, cost plans and project budgets.
  • Managing valuations, interim applications, variations and final accounts.
  • Monitoring project costs, cash flow and forecasting to ensure commercial performance.
  • Procuring, managing and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Producing accurate measurements, cost reports and commercial documentation.
  • Attending site and client meetings to manage risk and maintain commercial control.
  • Supporting the development and improvement of commercial processes within the business.

Quantity Surveyor Requirements

  • HND or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Must have surveying experience in a contractor or construction environment. Ideally experience within groundworks, civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • A strong understanding of construction contracts such as NEC or JCT.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a good understanding of budget management.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Good IT skills and proficiency with relevant software.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to reconcile any potential cost disputes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • A full UK driving licence and flexibility to visit sites across the region.
