We are currently seeking an experienced Project Controls / PMO Manager to join a growing infrastructure and civil engineering organisation delivering major programmes across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for a delivery-focused professional who thrives in a structured project environment and can provide robust planning, governance, reporting, and project controls support across complex engineering programmes.
Please note: this is not a Performance Manager role. We are specifically seeking a PMO / Project Controls professional with strong planning and project management capability gained within the civil engineering or wider infrastructure sector.
The Role
- You will work closely with project and programme teams to ensure effective control, monitoring, and reporting of project performance across the lifecycle.
- You will play a key role in strengthening PMO governance, improving consistency in project delivery, and supporting successful outcomes across multiple workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop PMO and project controls frameworks across multiple projects
- Manage and maintain project schedules, reporting, and progress tracking
- Support project managers with governance, risk, issue, and change control processes
- Produce high-quality reporting and dashboards for senior stakeholders
- Ensure consistency in project controls standards and best practice
- Facilitate project reviews, planning sessions, and governance meetings
- Support forecasting, resource planning, and programme coordination
- Drive continuous improvement across PMO processes and delivery performance
About You
- Proven experience in a PMO, Project Controls, or Project Management role
- Background in civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, rail, highways, or construction
- Strong planning and scheduling experience
- Confident stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience working on complex, multi-disciplinary engineering programmes
- Strong understanding of governance, reporting, risk, and change control
- Proficient in project planning/reporting tools
- Highly organised with strong analytical capability
