A House Builder seeks to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team to provide effective commercial management and control of housing developments. The company are a regional developer specialising in new build private developments across the North West Region, properties ranging from affordable homes to luxury family homes. Owing to the award of new developments they have a requirement for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial Team.
The principal purpose of the role is to manage a team of surveyors and provide effective commercial management and control of projects. The role will be varied and deadline driven, so excellent management prioritisation and organisational skills are essential. It is essential that you are a confident communicator, proficient with Microsoft packages, with ideally experience in a similar role/environment. This is mainly a site based role.
Key responsibilities- To oversee the financial and contractual administration of one or more projects and to manage the Surveying team, ensuring quality of work at all times.
- Provide accurate, real time, quarterly reports (Cost Value Reconciliations) & final outcome forecasts.
- Carry out tender analysis, subcontractor and materials procurement and management & payment of subcontractor accounts.
- Attend and provide cost input at monthly site meetings and agree strategies to deliver the project.
- Value engineer projects and suggest delivery solutions to ensure cost effective project delivery.
- Provide financial information to the senior management as required to assist in financial planning.
- Help the company to achieve targets set in agreed Business Plan.
- To provide effective commercial management and control of projects and to administer them in line with the applicable contract terms/statutory legislation.
- To maximise margin and minimise the exposure to risk.
- Thorough understanding of quantity surveying within housing developments.
- Thorough understanding of financial reporting, contractual terms & conditions and statutory requirements.
- Good analytical skills and the ability to apply common sense in all situations.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Customer and delivery focused.
