A national house builder has a requirement for a Design Engineer to join their Design team overseeing Civils Design packages and technical approvals for new build developments.
Reporting to the Design Manager, you will undertake the engineering design from land appraisal through to construction. You will be responsible for appointing Consultants, agreeing fees, liaising with statutory authorities and ensuring that design sits within budget.
Duties to include:
- Undertake the required highway and drainage designs for projects to secure the approval of and, where appropriate, progress the adoption agreement with relevant Statutory Authorities.
- Ensure the earthworks required across developments are designed in the most cost-effective way possible.
- Advise the land and planning department on the technical viability of new sites.
- Assist in the production of layouts and technical reports for land appraisals and required working drawings.
- Prepare outline engineering schematics for land appraisals.
- Conduct initial negotiations/enquiries with statutory bodies on environmental, drainage, highways and other engineering issues when appraising land.
- Brief and commission site investigations, topographical surveys and other assessment reports on land acquired.
- Brief engineering Consultants on the scope of design so that all parties are clear and working towards the same goal.
- Answer technical queries that may arise from other departments.
- Encourage feedback from site teams to improve the design and implementation of future schemes to avoid wastage and improve engineering solutions.
- Provide support to the Principal Designer to ensure full compliance with CDM regulations.
Senior Design Engineer experience required:
- Experienced in producing civil engineering drawings for S38 and S104 packs (roads and drainage) within the residential sector.
- Proficient using Causeway design packages (PDS flow), micro drainage and AutoCAD.
- Innovative approach to problem solving.
- Capable of managing multiple developments.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven experience in the production of value engineering design.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people across all departments and levels within the business.
