We’re supporting a highly established tier 1 nationwide contractor with the appointment of a Project Director to lead the delivery of a significant industrial and logistics scheme. This is an opportunity for an experienced construction leader to take a prominent position within a major project, with responsibility for the overall delivery strategy, project team and relationship with the client from the very initial stages of the project.
What makes this role different? The project is substantial in scale and technically demanding, with a strong emphasis on steel frame construction, extensive bulk earthworks and major groundworks packages. You’ll have a visible role from the outset, providing direction across the project team while acting as a key point of contact for the client and wider professional team.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at senior level and will have the credibility to lead complex delivery, challenge where necessary and maintain strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Your background
- We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate significant experience delivering large-scale industrial, logistics, distribution or similarly complex developments.
- Your experience should include:
- Major steel frame projects – essential
- Extensive bulk earthworks – essential
- Significant groundworks / civils experience – essential
- Leading large project teams and specialist supply chains
- Senior-level client and stakeholder management
- Overall responsibility for programme, quality, commercial delivery and H&S
- Experience delivering complex projects for major clients
- A background with a Tier 1 main contractor would be highly advantageous
- Project experience over £50 million as a number 1 on site.
Additional experience
- Given the nature of the development, previous exposure to cold store or temperature-controlled facilities would be particularly useful.
- Knowledge of clad-rack construction systems, particularly within large logistics or cold storage environments, would also be a strong advantage.
About you
This role will suit a confident senior construction professional who enjoys taking ownership of major projects rather than simply managing individual packages. You’ll be commercially astute, client-focused and comfortable leading from the front, with the ability to bring together project teams, consultants, subcontractors and senior stakeholders around a common delivery strategy.
