My client is a leading, national civil engineering contractor. Due to continued growth and a full order book they are looking to expand their SHEQ team by taking on a SHEQ Advisor on a permanent basis. They are long established, progressive and employ more than 500 people in the UK. This individual will be working on various different projects within this region. These span highways, public realm, structures, bridge replacements and demolition. Due to this being a regional role, it will involve overnight stays but will not require relocation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Implementing SHEQ policies and procedures on site, ensuring compliance and staying updated with key changes to legislation.
  • Providing project teams with expert SHEQ technical advice, guidance, and support, conducting regular site inspections, producing formal reports, and engaging with works managers, supervisors, and plant operators, to ensure clear responsibilities and answer technical health and safety related inquiries.
  • Collaboratively engaging with both internal and external customers and the supply chain to promote our Key Safe Behaviours.
  • Providing expert support for the investigations of accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with the companies policies and customer requirements.
  • Engaging and developing relationships with site teams to eliminate and reduce SHEQ risk through design and planning.
  • Challenging the norm by innovating and improving the way we work, while keeping pace with industry change and promoting successes.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Construction / Civil engineering / Heavy Plant – Required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in SHEQ roles
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent) – Required
  • IEMA Foundation Certificate (or equivalent) – Required
  • Experience of Auditing
  • Membership of industry bodies – Desirable
