This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Site Manager to join the regional office of a busy Tier 1 main contractor to work on a new build SEND primary school project in Sholing, Southampton. The scheme is currently in preconstruction and will start in the summer, with some survey and then enabling works to be undertaken beforehand.
As Site Manager you will be working on site reporting to the Project Manager. You will be responsible for managing all site-based construction activities including:
- Management of trade sub-contractors
- Health and safety
- Review of method statements
- Risk assessments
- Logistics
- Quality control
- Client liaison
- Coordination meetings
- Short-term programming of work
- Reporting on progress against program
- Issue resolution
- Snagging and handover
The contractor is a busy national contractor with a £70-80m annual turnover in the region, and a proven track record in the delivery of new build and refurbishment schemes in the leisure, education, scientific, defence, local authority, retirement living and blue light sectors. They have an excellent reputation for quality, safety, staff retention, development and promotion, plus client engagement and undertaking repeat works for key clients. Typical patch covers Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset.
The successful candidate will have 5 years + of experience as an Assistant to Site Manager, will be highly motivated, proactive, demonstrating good technical, organisational, man-management, and communication skills. Proven track record of work for a Tier 1 or 2 main contractor advantageous. Ideally from a construction management, engineering or trades background with a practical approach and keen eye for detail and quality throughout, you will possess excellent communication and man management skills. You will have great problem solving ability, with a positive, 'get it right first time' approach. You will possess your SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications for this role. You will be experienced in the Site Management role, with a proven track record of successful project delivery placing safety, quality, positive client and supply chain relationships as priorities.
