My client is a Leading National Civil Engineering Contractor. Due to planned growth, they are looking to appoint, on a permanent basis, a Managing Engineer to oversee their larger projects and to offer guidance and support to other engineering staff within the region. This is a hybrid role where the successful candidate will be expected to blend site related engineering activities with training, supervision and mentorship to more junior members of the company's engineering team. In this role you will be fairly mobile and will need to be prepared to travel throughout the company's southern operational range which broadly covers the counties of Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Devon.

Key Responsibilities
- Undertake day to day setting out duties with no supervision
- Train, manage and mentor Junior Engineers
- Manage and monitor all site sample / performance testing requirements and maintain records in line with the contract specification.
- Complete hazard / risk assessments and method statements.
- Manage the site service plans/ drawings. Issue permits accordingly.
- Assist the site QS / Project Manager with providing the relevant information for records and claims purposes.
- Monitor and control temporary works.
- Develop and maintain relations with client, suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.
Requirements
The company are seeking a proactive problem solver and confident communicator, who has the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals. The ideal candidate will have previous civil engineering experience, particularly highways and coastal schemes working for a main contractor. Must also have a CSCS card in the appropriate discipline and have a BSc/ HND/ HNC qualification or equivalent. You will have an SSTS card as well as ICE membership.
Skills Required
Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving license is essential and the successful candidate will be happy to travel throughout the Southern Region. A First Aid at Work qualification would also be desirable.
