A UK leading 5* housebuilder have a requirement for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The company specialise in housing developments across the Yorkshire region.
The principle purpose of the role is to provide effective commercial management and control of projects, and to administer these in line with the applicable contract terms/statutory legislation. The role will cover all aspects within the commercial function and will be deadline driven, and will require excellent prioritisation and organisational skills. You will need to be a confident communicator, proficient with Microsoft packages.
Reporting to the Commercial Lead you will be working across 3-4 developments at any one time, key duties include:
- Commercial management of projects to ensure they are completed within budget
- Create systems and processes, allowing effective measurement of commercial performance
- Provide accurate, real time commercial reports (CVR) and final forecasts
- Take off and create bills of quantities, and produce tender documentation for subcontract, materials, and plant enquiries
- Carry out tender analysis, procurement, account management and payment of subcontractors
- Attend and provide cost input at design team meetings and agree strategies to deliver the project
- Value engineer projects and suggest delivery solutions to ensure cost effective project delivery
- Provide financial information to the team as required to assist in financial planning & land appraisals
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
- Thorough understanding of quantity surveying in the house building industry
- Thorough understanding of financial reporting, contractual terms and statutory requirements
- Good analytical skills, a high attention to detail and the ability to apply common sense in all situations
- Highly organised and familiar with coordinating multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Proficient with IT
