Opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a market leading specialist subcontractor helping the delivery of high end Ceiling and Walling finishes for an office based role out of Sevenoaks Kent. The business works with some of the world's most recognisable luxury clients such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes and many others and have projects covering London, Dublin and Glasgow.

About the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor:

A Senior Quantity Surveyor & Commercial Manager will lead the company's Contracts Department and take responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of the company's specialist contracting business. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the role will oversee the commercial management of projects from contract award through to final account, whilst providing leadership to the Contracts Managers, Contracts Administration and Contracts Accounts teams.

The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered profitably, contractual risk is effectively managed, commercial processes are robust and the contracting operation performs to the highest professional standards. They will be responsible for driving commercial discipline, operational efficiency and continuous improvement across the department, ensuring the business consistently delivers exceptional service, strong financial performance and outstanding client satisfaction.

Working closely with the CEO, Finance Manager and Chief Estimator, the Senior Quantity Surveyor & Commercial Manager will play a key leadership role in supporting the continued growth of the specialist contracting business and maintaining the company's reputation for delivering premium architectural finishes on prestigious projects throughout the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities for Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • Lead the Contracts Department and oversee the day-to-day contracting operation.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and performance management for Contracts Managers, Contracts Administration and Contracts Accounts teams.
  • Ensure robust commercial control from contract award through to final account.
  • Review and negotiate client contracts and manage contractual risk.
  • Oversee applications for payment, variations, claims and final accounts.
  • Monitor project profitability, cash flow and Work in Progress (WIP).
  • Review commercial performance with the Finance Manager and CEO each month.
  • Support cash collection and resolution of commercial disputes.
  • Approve subcontract procurement, valuations and final accounts.
  • Develop and maintain documented departmental procedures and ensure business continuity.
  • Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
  • Support the Chief Estimator with feedback to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations and health & safety requirements.

Requirements for Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • 8-12+ years in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
  • Experience with specialist subcontractors, fit-out, finishes or interiors preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Experience leading commercial teams and developing staff.
  • Track record of improving profitability and commercial processes.
