Freelance Senior Engineer - Gatwick Airport Location: Gatwick Airport Rate: Up to £450 per day CIS Contract Type: Freelance - CIS only Project: Civils Framework Job Description We are seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Engineer to join a civils framework at Gatwick Airport. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and proactive Senior Engineer with a solid background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating engineering activities, overseeing setting-out operations and ensuring construction works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with project specifications, drawings and programme requirements. Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate day-to-day site engineering activities across civil engineering and infrastructure works. Oversee setting out, surveying and dimensional control to ensure works are delivered in line with approved drawings and specifications. Review construction drawings, technical documentation and design information, identifying and resolving engineering issues. Support and coordinate Site Engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring high standards of engineering delivery. Liaise with site management, subcontractors, design teams and other stakeholders to maintain progress and resolve technical queries. Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed, including inspections, ITPs, quality records and as-built documentation. Monitor engineering progress against the construction programme and help identify potential delays or technical challenges. Ensure all works comply with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements. Maintain accurate survey records, site documentation and engineering reports. Assist with planning upcoming works, coordinating resources and ensuring engineering requirements are met. Requirements Proven experience in a Senior Engineer role within civil engineering or infrastructure projects. Strong setting-out and surveying skills. Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications. Experience managing engineering activities and supporting site teams. Strong understanding of quality assurance, site documentation and construction procedures. Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills. A proactive approach with the ability to work effectively in a demanding site environment. Previous experience on major infrastructure or airport projects would be advantageous. What's on Offer?
