An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Freelance Civil Engineering Project Manager to oversee the delivery of marine and civil engineering works within a live 24/7 operational port environment. Working on a long-term infrastructure project, you will take responsibility for the safe and successful delivery of works, ensuring projects are completed on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of marine and landside civil engineering projects from planning through to completion.
- Develop and manage project programmes, lookahead schedules and sequencing of works.
- Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, stakeholders and operational teams.
- Manage subcontractor performance, site logistics and construction activities.
- Coordinate design, technical approvals and engineering assurance.
- Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015, health & safety legislation and environmental standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Oversee quality assurance, commissioning and project handover.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering civil engineering or construction projects.
- Experience working within complex operational environments such as ports, marine, infrastructure or utilities.
- Strong programme management and planning skills.
- Excellent knowledge of CDM 2015 and UK health & safety legislation.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness and contract administration experience.
Desirable
- Previous marine, coastal or port infrastructure experience.
- Temporary Works or Lifting Operations knowledge.
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction.
