A well-established and growing main contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join its team based in Paddock Wood, delivering a range of high-quality projects across the South East. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected contractor with a strong reputation for delivering projects across sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, residential and mixed-use developments.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, on programme and to the highest standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and coordinating the design process across multiple projects
- Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical submissions
- Identifying and resolving design and buildability issues
- Ensuring design information is issued in line with project programmes
- Supporting operational and commercial teams throughout delivery
- Ensuring compliance with current regulations and technical standards
- Attending design, progress and coordination meetings
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment
- Strong understanding of Design & Build projects
- Experience delivering projects within commercial, education, healthcare, residential or mixed-use sectors
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong technical and problem-solving ability
- Relevant construction qualification preferred (HNC/HND/Degree)
