Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of major infrastructure and civil engineering projects. This role will involve leading and coordinating permanent works design activities, managing design interfaces, and ensuring technical compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with project delivery, commercial, and construction teams to ensure efficient and compliant design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage permanent works design activities across infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and subcontracted designers
  • Manage design assurance, technical approvals, and change control processes
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, client requirements, and CDM Regulations
  • Review buildability, safety, and value engineering opportunities
  • Support BIM implementation and collaborative design processes
  • Work alongside project and commercial teams on contractor design elements
  • Attend regular site visits in Suffolk

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within infrastructure, civil engineering, or construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of UK design standards, CDM Regulations, and ISO 9001 processes
  • Experience managing complex design interfaces and multidisciplinary teams
  • Understanding of BIM and modern collaborative design methods
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
