Exciting new opportunity to work for a leading principal contractor to work out of their brand new regional business unit in Merseyside. Due to the opening of a North West business unit of a national main contractor with a turnover of c.£300 million, there is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator to make a real impact to a growing region that is a multi-disciplinary contractor specialising in both private and public sector construction projects. Typical project values range between £1m – £20m on both single & two stage tenders.

Responsibilities for Senior Estimator:

  • Support the pre-construction development of successful tenders, working collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
  • Contribute to the growth of the region while building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Prepare and estimate costs for tenders, identifying opportunities to minimise risk and maximise profit.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff members, promoting best practice and collaborative working.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate with design, planning, commercial, and bid management teams throughout the tender process.
  • Support the handover of projects to delivery teams, ensuring smooth transition and clear communication.

Experience required for Senior Estimator:

  • Proven working experience with a Tier 1 or 2 Main Contractor.
  • Academically qualified in construction / quantity surveying to HND/BSc level or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Excel, estimating software, and take‑off tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a pre‑construction team.
  • Experience supporting and developing junior team members, helping them grow their skills.
  • Conscientious, detail‑oriented approach to work and a passion for problem‑solving.
