My client is a long established, leading, regional Civil Engineering Contractor. Due to planned growth and an influx of work in their Southern Region, they are looking to appoint, on a permanent basis, a Site Agent / Senior Site Agent. The ideal candidate will be based around East Sussex or West Sussex as the initial scheme is located in the Lancing area of West Sussex and involves roadworks, drainage, junction improvement works, and the construction of culverts and other large structures. The company would consider applications from both experienced Site Agents and those looking to progress up from Sub Agent / Site Management roles. The ideal candidate would have progressed up from a Site Engineer and would have experience of Section 278 Works and previous exposure to Infrastructure schemes.
The company delivers projects across various sectors including highways and bridges, earthworks and remediation, Environment Agency Works, Ministry of Defence Works, Development Infrastructure, Flood Alleviation schemes, and marine and coastal projects.
Responsibilities
- Management of site staff operatives and sub-contractors.
- Preparing and monitoring programmes of work.
- Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans.
- Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets.
- Manage design co-ordination.
- Assessment and engagement of sub-contractors.
- Understand and administer contract change.
- Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary.
- Foster good relations and reputation with clients.
- Promote and ensure all work complies with safety, quality and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Already experienced as a Sub Agent or a Site Agent you will have a relevant industry qualification (HND/ HNC/ BEng) or equivalent, an up-to-date SMSTS qualification, and appropriate CSCS card.
- A First Aid at Work qualification is desirable.
- You will also have experience of managing civil engineering projects with a main contractor including Highways works, Earthworks and Structures.
- Experienced in people management and motivation of staff.
- A good organiser, both of self and others with the ability to think in advance.
- Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
- Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving license is essential and the successful candidate will be happy to travel throughout our Southern Region.
